Franco-Rosas et al. (2004) have proposed a complete stem-based definiton for a clade of titanosaurs involving Aeolosaurus and Gondwanatitan. Elsewhere Salagado (2003) has proposed additional definitions for titanosaurian subclades involving Epachthosaurus and Andesaurus. Some of these are family-group names and so can be combined only in certain ways. The type material for species within these genera is fairly incomplete, and referred material has yet to be well described. Finally, there has yet to be a phylogenetic analysis that relates all of these taxa and other well known titanosaurians, such as Malawisaurus, in order to judge the most favorable position and formulation of phylogenetic definitons. For this last reason, Aeolosaurini is regarded as an inactive taxon for the time being.
